This piece is all about the video game character "Mario" from the Super Mario Series, and his thirty-five year legacy. I based this design off of Geoffrey Farmer's Leaves of Grass in which he took 900 Life magazines spanning five decades and created a 124 feet long collage showcasing important and historic events between the years 1935 - 1985. Mario has had a storied history from his simple days as a plumber to becoming hero of the mushroom kingdom, he is one of the most recognizable fictional characters in all of media, and this collage shows a small snit bit of his adventures. Each image shows a different render from his games, his first debut into 3D with Super Mario 64 (1996) all the way to his latest game Super Mario Odyssey (2017). I wanted to arrange the piece in a way that made images dynamic and pop out at the viewer, so that no matter where you look it your eyes will move around to the different Marios.
